My Pink Planner keeps Christina Applegate in our thoughts!

According to the Associated Press, actress Christina Applegate, star of television comedy,"Samantha...Who?," is receiving treatment for an early form of breast cancer. The news service reports her cancer was detected through an MRI. As survivors, we can all understand how emotional this time is as you sift through information and treatment options. I cannot imagine the pressure from the glare of the media spotlight that she must also contend with. My Pink Planner wishes her well during her journey to healing.

Speaking of entertainment celebrities and breast cancer...I recently came across a great new series, Terminal City, which deals with breast cancer. Similar to the quirkiness and even morbid “Six Feet Under,” Terminal City is a high quality production with exceptional writing and acting to support. Much like “Weeds,” viewers of Terminal City get to witness a dysfunctional family grappling with a sad and uncertain time.
In this award winning series, we see 43 year-old wife and mother Katie Sampson (Maria Del Mar), alongside her loving husband (Gil Bellows), her incorrigible father in-law (an Auschwitz survivor), her rebellious daughter, her pot-obsessed teenage son and her God and death obsessed seven-year-old, cope with both the pains of breast cancer, as well as the strangeness of the world of reality TV, when during her treatments Katie is selected to host an ailing reality-driven, hospital-based medical series.
This is truly dark comedy at its finest. If you are a fan of most HBO and Showtime series (e.g. Six Feet Under, Weeds, Big Love), you’re sure to appreciate Terminal City. The show has received a number of awards, and great reviews from all of the major entertainment journals.
